Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 0.36%, while the index declined 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which rose 4.19% or 209.75 points to trade at 5,218.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:) added 2.73% or 95.10 points to end at 3,581.05 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) was up 2.22% or 104.45 points to 4,803.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.02% or 88.55 points to trade at 2,843.05 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.98% or 26.15 points to end at 1,297.10 and Wipro Ltd (NS:) was down 1.89% or 7.50 points to 388.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.48% to 4,810.70, Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.12% to settle at 22,980.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.01% to close at 1,392.75.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.93% to 388.95 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.81% to settle at 1,299.45 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which was down 1.80% to 566.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1093 to 861 and 59 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1719 fell and 1677 advanced, while 138 ended unchanged.
Shares in Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.19% or 209.75 to 5,218.75. Shares in Nestle India Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 1.12% or 255.55 to 22,980.00.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.74% to 11.08 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.16% or 22.85 to $1,946.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.95% or 0.65 to hit $68.92 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.72 to trade at $73.92 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 82.18, while EUR/INR rose 0.36% to 89.10.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 102.67.
