Nighthawk Gold said Friday that its Colomac gold project camp is secured and unaffected by wildfires in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
Exploration drilling at the deposit was completed mid-July and the camp was closed for the fall and winter season. There are currently no personnel at the site, the gold exploration company said.
Nighthawk has estimates its flagship Colomac project has the potential to be a 290,000-ounce-a-year operation over a mine life of more than 11 years.
Evacuation efforts are under way in the Northwest Territories, with wildfires nearing the capital Yellowknife.
