A Space Age-style home in a northern Sydney suburb has recently sold in a multimillion-dollar deal.
The house in Elanora Heights, a roughly 30-minute drive from the city’s central business district, is affectionately known as the “Star Trek” home, due to its spaceship profile from above, according to Christie’s Darren Curtis, who had the listing with Shayne Hutton of Sydney Country Living.
The five-bedroom trophy home was built by “Star Trek” fan and property developer Peter Chedid in 2010, who “commissioned the spaceship design on an elevated site and included a 15-seat home cinema decorated with a space image taken from the Hubble telescope,” Curtis said.
It’s “an unforgettable residence for those seeking individuality and a statement property,” he added.
Designed to take in panoramic views of the surrounding landscape all the way to the ocean, the five-bedroom house is tucked away behind a gated entry and has walls of glass, a home theater, an office and an infinity pool.

The seller was Yunlong Zhang, whose business interests locally are as a distributor of the Pearl Red Hakka rice wine from China, according to Domain, which first reported the news.
Curtis declined to comment on both the identities of the parties involved in the deal, as well as the final sale price, though the price guide was A$18 million to A$19 million (US$12.2 million to US$12.9 million).

Curtis noted though, that the buyer was drawn to the home’s privacy, as well as its position so close to Sydney’s central business district. “Aside from the position, the build is superb and the views quite astonishing,” he added.
Underlining the extent to which Australia’s home prices surged during the pandemic—particularly outside of its major cities—the spaceship house last changed hands in 2014 for A$8.39 million, listing records show.
